Geraldo Rivera Defends Matt Lauer -- But Bette Midler Says Geraldo Is A Groper Too!!!

no title
A lot of Matt Lauer‘s coworkers are expressing their shock at his firing — but from the sound of it, they really should have seen this coming.
We mean, Katie Couric told Andy Cohen he pinched her ass too much FIVE YEARS AGO!
One fellow newsman who thinks Matt’s conduct is just par for the course? Geraldo Rivera.

The talk show host-turned-Fox News pundit took to Twitter to defend Lauer, saying news is “a flirty business” — and we should be careful about judging too quickly what’s sexual harassment.
He wrote:

Something tells us Geraldo hasn’t yet read the Variety expos├â┬⌐ which details Lauer’s alleged behavior — which goes way beyond being in a “flirty business.”

Um… what’s with that five year limit?
Disregarding that the notion ignores the fact a great many women have not felt safe coming forward before this groundswell…
Does that seem too specific to anyone else? Maybe it’s because he has skeletons in his own closet??

Understandably, Fox News has moved quickly to denounce Rivera’s troubling remarks. A rep for the network noted in a statement:

“Geraldo’s tweets do not reflect the views of FOX News or its management. We were troubled by his comments and are addressing them with him.”

Oh hey, this just in…
Bette Midler, the legend, revealed a horrifying story during a Barbara Walters interview about Geraldo and his producer GROPING her in the late ’70s. She said:

“They pushed me into my bathroom, they broke two poppers and pushed them under my nose and proceeded to grope me.”

(For the uninitiated, “poppers” are amyl nitrate, an inhaled vasodilator — sort of a super Viagra.)
This interview was in 1991. So of course Walters said:

“Well, let’s go on to other things, shall we?”

Ugh. See the video proof for yourself (below):

“I’m going to get in trouble.”
That’s what she said before she told a story about being the victim of sexual assault.
