Glee's Ryan Murphy Confirms Finn Hudson Will Not Die From Drug Overdose!

Ryan Murphy has confirmed that Finn Hudson will not die from a drug overdose in the Cory Monteith tribute episode of Glee.

Although previous reports stated the show would treat Finn’s death as a cautionary tale, the gleeful creator revealed he had a change of heart:

“At one point, we were going to have his character die after an accidental drug overdose ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ that was something we had considered. But we have decided that we├óΓé¼Γäóre not going to have him pass from that.”

Ry continued by saying that after careful consideration, they may not disclose how the character passes away at all:

“Basically, what we’re doing in the episode is we are not telling you yet, or maybe not at all, how that character died. The idea being, how somebody died is interesting and maybe morbid, but we say very early on in the episode, ‘This episode is about a celebration of that character’s life’. That might be weird for some people, but it felt really exploitative to do it any other way.”

Ryan also explained that the cast has struggled to return to work following their cast mate’s tragic death:

“The cast and crew have had solace in being together…There├óΓé¼Γäós been tears on set. It├óΓé¼Γäós been hard for a lot of people. But the really difficult thing is coming. We start shooting the memorial episode this week.”

After the show is finished, the cast will have a few weeks off to process and take some final moments to grieve, before returning to finish the season.

Losing the character of Finn Hudson and Cory as an actor will be a huge loss for the show…but we have a feeling the extremely talented group will rise above the loss and sadness to put out a great tribute for their dear friend.
