A guest at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel is coming forward with new details about Liam Payne‘s final moments.
As Perezcious readers know, officials reported the former One Direction member died on Wednesday after jumping from the fourth-story balcony of his room at the hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. At this time, it is unclear if it was intentional or not, but we do know officials believe he was in a state of either “semi or total unconsciousness” when he made contact with the ground. According to witnesses who spoke to TMZ, Liam was acting erratically in the lobby moments before, even smashing his own laptop. It got to the point where he had to be carried to his room.

The hotel’s chief receptionist Esteban ended up calling 911 out of concern for the 31-year-old singer, telling police he was “under the influence of alcohol and drugs.” He also feared Liam was “in danger” because he was “in a room with a balcony.” Sadly, the local law enforcement did not arrive in time to stop the unthinkable from happening.
Now, a guest at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel is sharing more chilling details about Liam’s last moments in the hotel. Speaking to People on Thursday, the unidentified man recalled he heard “a lot of noise” coming from his room. At first, the guest “thought it was construction” as the noise sounded “heavy lifting” or “banging.” He added:
“I thought they were working on the room.”
All that commotion the person heard? It was most likely Liam “trashing” his room. Photos of the space obtained by Argentina’s largest newspaper Clarin showed his television screen was completely shattered. Buenos Aires police also confirmed the room was in “total disorder” and “various elements” were “broken.” And as we mentioned before, Liam reportedly was acting erratically before his death.
The patron said he also witnessed hotel staff “going in and out” of Liam’s room. Around 4:30 p.m. local time, he heard “more noise” again. Minutes later, something even more jarring happened. The guest remembered:
“I heard a really loud, violent scream.”
Whoa.
The guest then “heard sirens.” However, he didn’t think anything of it until he “came down the elevator” to find the “whole street was full of cop cars.” As we said, by the time cops arrived at the scene, it was too late. Police were called to the hotel shortly after 5:00 p.m. — but sadly, they weren’t able to stop the fall, and they could not try to revive him as he “suffered severe injuries that provoked his immediate death.” So, so sad.
Per Page Six, the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office in Argentina said Liam most likely “was going through some kind of outbreak due to substance abuse.” Oof. Of course, it is important to note that the investigation into his death is still ongoing. But what has come out so far is truly heartbreaking…
