It’s either kill or be killed in India!
The Maharashtra state government has legalized shooting poachers on sight. In the past, if a forest ranger shot a poacher, the ranger would face human right violations.
Now, it seems this former edict was thrown out the window.
The new law was chosen to curb tiger poaching, which runs rampant throughout India. Many conservationists believe that poachers hunt at will due to the previously lax laws.
Rangers can shoot poachers and even KILL them with no consequences. The Indian state has also set up a five million rupee ($90,000) fund for tattle-tales informants.
Conservationists state that increasing surveillance to around the clock would be more beneficial that this bounty system. Poachers normally hunt at night so ranger-poacher interaction is rare.
Thoughts? Do U think this Most Dangerous Game policy is okay?
