Jaden Smith Talks Importance Of Individuality On Nylon -- 'I'm Going To Take Most Of The Blows For My Fellow MSFTS'

Jaden covers Nylon magazine.
Jaden Smith
is the androgynous hero today’s society needs.
The 17-year-old (who turns 18 tomorrow!) is boldly himself in a world where individuality is heavily praised, but then crushed anytime it rears its head.

Jaden doesn’t let that bother him, and he’s even happy to be the fall guy so that others can feel comfortable sharing their uniqueness with the world.
His individuality is also highly evident on the cover of Nylon magazine’s August issue, with Jaden wearing an Isabel Marant lace turtleneck and studded Gucci denim jacket.
He’s also the first guy to appear solo on the front of the mag!
In the accompanying interview, the model and actor explains his philosophy:

“You just have to believe in yourself, you know. The world is going to keep bashing me for whatever I do, and I’m going to keep not caring. I’m going to keep doing the same things ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ I’m going to keep doing more things. I’m going to take most of the blows for my fellow MSFTS. So, you know, in five years when a kid goes to school wearing a skirt, he won’t get beat up and kids won’t get mad at him. It just doesn’t matter. I’m taking the brunt of it so that later on, my kids and the next generations of kids will all think that certain things are normal that weren’t expected before my time.”

It’s so inspiring to hear such a young man say something like that! And we hope he’s right about the future! He’s amazing for wanting to pave some of the way!
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith definitely have to take credit for raising such an enlightened person, and Jaden knows it too:

“The greatest lesson I’ve learned from my parents is to be myself, at all costs, no matter what anybody thinks.”

No doubt!
