The selfie seen ’round the world wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for James Franco! Wait, what?
With all the attention Ellen DeGeneres garnered from the star-studded selfie she took at the Oscars, we’re surprised no one has said anything about starting the trend sooner!
The actor turned UCLA professor is claiming he came up with the idea of taking a selfie with his industry peers when he and Anne Hathaway hosted the Academy Awards three years ago.
He said:
“I took some videos and selfies at my Oscars and I got criticized for it. Now [Ellen DeGeneres is] getting a lot of attention for hers. I don’t get it.
I guess maybe I didn’t include Meryl Streep and Bradley Cooper in my Oscar selfies, so maybe that’s why it went wrong.”
You could possibly be onto something there, James. But you must remember selfies weren’t all the rage until recently!
James was just too ahead of the curve for anyone else to understand. Lolz!
