A lot of Batman fans aren’t too happy with Jared Leto right now.
On Friday, Suicide Squad director David Ayer tweeted a pic of the actor for The Joker’s 75th anniversary — with a VERY different look for the character, sporting tattoos and a grill.
Though some fans liked the strange new take, others voiced their annoyance, some even threatened to boycott the movie, and of course, many MANY made fun of the “edgy” look.
The pic became an instant meme, leading to a flurry of unflattering comparisons — the most common being to the Insane Clown Posse.
But the look may have been just a publicity stunt that didn’t actually represent Jared’s movie look at all! And there’s photographic evidence behind the theory (below)!
See, Jared has actually been spotted during filming of the movie already. And he didn’t have any of these facial tattoos.
More importantly, he was spotted showing off what appears to be Joker test footage on his smartphone:
Let’s take a closer look at that, shall we??
That’s definitely a suit, there are no visible tattoos, and we’re pretty sure that’s a grill-less grin.
And then there’s this leaked pic:
Definitely a little more classic Joker look, a LOT less Juggalo.
So was the tweet just a big joke? If so, some upset fans may be awfully relieved.
What do YOU think??
