Kanye West & James Corden Get Closer To God In Heavenly New 'Airpool Karaoke' Ride!

Kanye West just brought his Sunday Service to the heavenly skies!

In an all-new special episode of Carpool Karaoke, the rapper and producer joined James Corden for a twist on the famed late-night TV segment where the two hopped on a private plane to talk about everything from Ye’s controversial new gospel album, Jesus Is King, to how he continues to make marriage work with Kim Kardashian West.

And of course, it’s aptly titled: Airpool Karaoke!

The 20-minute clip took viewers on quite a ride starting from the moment Corden’s flight 808 (clever!) to Los Angeles is canceled and he hitches a ride on Kanye’s, uh, air church, if you will.

It’s certainly worth watching for yourself, but we’ve gathered some important quotes from the interview for you (below)!

Yeezy kept it refreshingly real when the host inquired about the inspiration behind his ongoing Sunday Service gatherings and recent record, explaining how the idea came to him when he was hospitalized in 2016. Noting that one of the things he wrote down while ill was “start a church in Calabasas,” he explained:

“God’s always had a plan for me and he wanted to use me, but I think he wanted me to suffer more and wanted people to see my suffering and see my pain and put stigmas on me and have me go through all the human experiences. So now, when I talk about how Jesus saved me, more people can relate to that experience. If it was just, ‘We grew up with this guy and he’s a superstar,’ it’s less compelling than this guy who had a mental breakdown and this guy was in debt.”

Inneresting perspective!

Kanye clearly feels like his struggle and suffering made for a more compelling story now he’s turned his life around. In fact, he insisted his spiritual awakening is the most important thing that’s happened to him!

Between their deep conversation, the pair enjoyed selections from the large choir that accompanied them for the ride. After gospel renditions of West’s Jesus Walks, Ginuwine‘s So Anxious, and Nelly Furtado‘s Like A Bird, they eventually got to talking about KKW.

Although the 42-year-old described his marriage as “heavenly, magnificent, and wonderful,” he did make a playful comment about the longevity of his union:

“Marriage years are different than human years… you know how dog years, what is it seven years? Every marriage year is like 100 years, so it’s like 500 years of marriage.”

He also dropped a few little-known gems, including how Kim watches Dateline before bed while opts to read the Bible instead. As we mentioned at the top, these guys covered a lot!
