Kanye West Is STILL Talking About Running For President In 2024 -- Here We Go Again...

Kanye West for president 2024 Fast Company discussion

Kanye West is at it again, talking about his political ambitions and straight-up teasing a race to the White House in 2024. Oh boy…

The Yeezy fashion head spoke publicly on Thursday on stage at Fast Company‘s Innovation Festival, where he talked quite a bit about the business side of his fashion brand, alongside design collaborator Steven Smith. Unfortunately, the energy of the room got to the 42-year-old rapper, too, and he made a few eye-opening political statements, as well.

For the most part, the 35-minute discussion centered on (boring) business stuff: the design process behind Yeezy’s sneakers, Smith’s role in coming up with concepts for new designs, blah, blah, blah.

But before too long, the event turned bizarre. Below, scroll through all the highlights from another rambling, aspirational Kanye interview — and then watch the whole thing in full on video at the bottom of the post.

Kanye, the Genius Billionaire

At one point, Kim Kardashian West‘s husband became noticeably upset with people who criticize billionaires (?!).

West was so fired up about it, he claimed he might legally change his name to defend the billionaire class, saying (below):

“When people say it’s crass to call yourself a billionaire, I say I might legally change my name to Christian Genius Billionaire Kanye West for a year until y’all understand exactly what it is. It will be on the license plate.”

Uhhh… sure, Jan!

Yeezy 2020?!

At about the 24-minute mark of the interview, the College Dropout rapper shifted the interview to his plans to run for President, saying:

“When I run for president in 2024 — What y’all laughing at? — we would have created so many jobs. I’m not going to run, I’m going to walk. What they’re saying is Kanye’s crazy — one and three African Americans are in jail and all the celebrities are in jail also because they can’t say nothing because they’re so scared.”

Hmm… here we go again with all that President talk

Are we really gonna do this, y’all???

The “Black Demographic”

Kanye had a LOT to say in the second half of his discussion, completely taking over the panel and shutting out both Smith and the moderator.

He spoke about how black people have been only seen as a demographic in fashion and business, saying:

“As black designers out of America, you can’t have an opinion. You can only be the consumer… you can only be a demographic. And that a boardroom says ‘this is the black demographic…This is who you’re supposed to vote on. This is what you’re supposed to buy. This is your Popeye’s chicken sandwich you’re supposed to eat on. I have seen the boardroom and back. And it’s completely the concept of a demographic.”

This one was actually… kind of smart? Think for yourself! Don’t be a corporate stooge! OK, Kanye!

But then…

Yeezy, the Apple of Apparel

…He compared his fashion brand to Apple:

“We don’t put a timeline on things. The idea of competition that’s out there helps present a timeline. It makes things be better. Forces as creatives to bring things to market because Yeezy is the Apple of apparel. There hasn’t been an Apple of apparel —there hasn’t been that thing.”

Hmmm. We love the confidence. But does it really go that far?

Future Goals

The poppa of four also revealed broad ideas for the future of manufacturing and dyeing for the Yeezy brand, all set up to be done on his new ranch in Cody, Wyoming:

“We have 4,000 acre ranch and a couple of other properties out there. We’re going to be farming and going seed to sow and have our own cotton, hydroponic farm, hemp farm, and wheat farm… and getting into how we can have last impact with the dyes because our colors are a big signature of the brand. So dyeing is one of the main things that’s impacting the planet in the fashion industry so just being responsible from A to Z. Our goal within the next two years is to bring the manufacturing back to America, South America, and North America and bring it back stateside and also present jobs for people back here.”

Whew.

That’s quite a bit to take in!

Like we said, it’s a lot to take in, isn’t it?
