Katy Perry doesn’t want to take the hit for the failure of her latest album.
The flop of 143, which was said for a time to be the I Kissed a Girl singer’s comeback record, is still being dissected after its release last month. There’s been a lot of common criticism amongst fans and critics — all of whom feel it sounds outdated, and like something that could have been created by AI. But by far the most damning complaint is that Katy made the bewildering decision to hire Dr. Luke, the disgraced record producer accused of sexually assaulting Kesha. And now, the Roar singer is left to grapple with the fallout from all the backlash. But apparently, she doesn’t want to own up!
On Wednesday, an insider told DailyMail.com:
“Katy is seeing that she may not be able to recover from this and she is blaming everyone but herself. This was like a train wreck in slow motion. Everyone saw it coming. But it was ultimately her idea to hire Dr. Luke.”
Yikes…
And of course, 143 stumbled before it even debuted. The album’s lead single Woman’s World dropped back in July and even by then, the writing was already on the wall. But with the full album set to drop just two months later, there wasn’t much time to correct course. So, Katy continued on full steam ahead, seemingly attempting to use “her sexuality” and relationship with Orlando Bloom to gain eyes and ears.

You’ll surely remember her appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast in early September, where she made that unforgettable comment about how she rewards her fiancé for doing household chores. She said at the time:
“If I come downstairs and the kitchen is clean, and you’ve done it all, and you’ve done all the dishes, and you’ve closed all the pantry doors, you better be ready to get your d**k sucked. I mean, like, literally. That is my love language.”
Then, at the MTV VMAs weeks later, Orlando presented her with the Video Vanguard Award and gushed about what an amazing person she is before giving her a passionate kiss for all to see. But unfortunately for Katy, it didn’t help 143 much in terms of interest. Womp, womp! The insider explained:
“She has tried to sell it with her sexuality and use Orlando to help promote it with jokes about their sex life. She thought that the less clothes she wears and the raunchier she is the more publicity 143 would get.”
It definitely got publicity — but it wasn’t positive. It just kept getting hit with bad press and more bad press… Heck, remember the investigation that was launched for possible environmental damage after Katy shot her Lifetimes music video at the dunes of S’Espalmador?? As of now, 143 is currently the lowest scoring album on Metacritic with a 37 out of a possible 100.
So, with all this being said, she’s really still “blaming everyone by herself”?? Does that mean that she’s even possibly pointing fingers at Orlando, who she seemingly hoped would help boost interest in her music? BIG yikes!!!
