Vice Principal Forced 6-Year-Old Girl To Clean Her Own Feces After 'Medical Emergency', Say Prosecutors

Woman Charged With Forcing 6-Year-Old Girl To Clean Up Own Feces After Child Had A 'Medical Emergency'

This poor little girl…

The vice principal of Rollins Place Elementary School, just 15 miles north of Baton Rouge, turned herself in after accusations of child mistreatment. Kristy Scott Gilpin, 41, (pictured above) walked into the Zachary Police Department on Monday, per an incident report obtained by People.

But why exactly was she turning herself in? Well, last month a 6-year-old girl’s mother alleged the vice principal forced the child to clean up her own feces after she’d had an accident following an allergy problem. The heartbroken parent Jamisha Augustine said the “district was fully aware of her condition” and that the child had a “documented food allergy” — but she was “put in a situation where she consumed something that triggered a medical emergency”.

In a statement at the time, Augustine said:

“Rather than responding with care and compassion, my daughter — a young, innocent child — was humiliated and forced to clean her own feces. No child should ever be treated with such disregard and cruelty.”

The mom’s lawyer, Ronald Hayley, told the outlet that Gilpin’s arrest brings “clarity” to the situation:

“The recent arrest gives clarity as to what happened to this young innocent child. To discipline a 6-year-old old via humiliation is cruel and should never be tolerated.”

Horrible. We can’t imagine…

Gilpin’s lawyer even agrees this all happened! John McLindon said in his own statement that the 6-year-old was forced to clean up after herself, but not for the reasons the mother is claiming. In his rebuttal, he claims the young girl intentionally made a mess with her feces, which is why she was made to clean it up. He used an analogy to explain his thought process:

“If someone drops a plate in the cafeteria, the janitor is going to clean it up … [but if someone broke a plate intentionally], it is not unreasonable to expect them to clean that up.”

Um… He’s saying “someone.” But there’s also the fact to consider this is a SIX YEAR OLD! Even if this story about her intentionally doing it is true, we’re talking about human waste here! Only someone with training should be cleaning that, right? Not a child!

Luckily for the girl, her mom isn’t backing down. She said in a February statement:

“My daughter’s pain will not be ignored. And I will fight to ensure no other child endures what she did.”

Gilpin was released the same day she was booked, but racked up a felony charge of cruelty to juveniles. In her home state of Louisiana, if convicted, she could face up to 10 years in prison and/or a $1,000 fine.

What do YOU think of this bizarre case??
