Lamar Odom Offers Unsettling New Theory About How He Was Supposedly Drugged On Night Of Near-Fatal Overdose

Lamar Odom continues to piece together the details he remembers from his near-fatal overdose that occurred back in October of 2015.

Of course, we’ve been reporting for nearly an entire decade at this point about the former NBA star’s near-death experience at the Love Ranch brothel in Nevada. The terrifying moment came on the heels of his divorce from reality star Khloé Kardashian, and LOTS of drama has bubbled up from the scary event.

Back in 2019, Lamar first revealed his allegation that he was drugged by brothel owner Dennis Hof on that fateful day. Then, two years later, Odom popped back up in the news by doubling down on the claim that he was drugged in an attempt made on his life.

And now, there’s a new twist: for the first time, the former Los Angeles Lakers star is sharing a theory about how he was supposedly drugged during that fateful brothel visit.

On Monday, the 45-year-old appeared on the Kyle & Jackie O Radio Show and spoke about overcoming his battle with addiction. During that chat, he also floated a specific new theory of his: that a single drugged drink was what led to his hospitalization and, very nearly, his death.

As we noted, Lamar has been open in the past with his assertion that he didn’t do any drugs on the night of his overdose. But this week, he went a step further and claimed his lack of drug activity was because he was given that spiked drink! On the radio show, Khloé’s ex first recalled how he had gone to the brothel distraught over the end of his relationship with the Good American founder:

“I do remember [the overdose], but I don’t really remember because I was in a coma. I remember being upset that I didn’t have any cocaine to take to the brothel. I had just signed the divorce papers and I thought I was just gonna go all the way in.”

So scary…

At that point, he claimed that he’d shown up to the brothel with a certain amount of money already loaded up onto his credit card, hoping to “keep this a secret,” as he explained during the radio interview. But then, he added:

“[I remember] having a drink and then waking up three days later with it all over the news.”

The former basketball star again doubled down on prior claims that he didn’t actually take any drugs — even though he was later informed in the hospital that he had cocaine and opiates in his system. Instead, he floated this new theory that his drink had been spiked:

“I don’t know what they were able to slip into my drink or what. When I woke up, I couldn’t walk or talk. So it took you know, it took some months of rehabilitation and a lot of prayers, a lot of determination.”

We honestly can’t even imagine.

Jackie O used the opportunity to ask Odom a tough question about how he’s used the overdose as a moment to grow and bounce back. He confirmed his by now well-known push for personal (and community) growth, and then darkly added:

“You have nothing to do after you beat your death.”

He’s got plenty to do at this point, though — like his valiant work with rehab and treatment centers. On that topic, Lamar wrapped the interview on a high note:

“Now my mission is probably to help people who have the same problem who couldn’t help themselves be able to understand addiction and understand that it’s a brain disease. It’s important for people to really understand and educate themselves.”

Amen to that!
