Liam Hemsworth is speaking out for the first time since the announcement of his split from Miley Cyrus — and it sounds like he’s not taking things quite as well as his estranged wife is right now.
As we reported over the weekend, the couple surprisingly called it quits with an official statement just hours after fans spotted pics of Cyrus not wearing her wedding ring. The pair had been married for less than a year at the time of the split, though they’ve been together on and off for about a decade now.

It’s this ten-year long history Liam has with Miley that is likely keeping him “downcast” and “visibly downtrodden” after the breakup, according to media reports. In fact, Daily Mail Australia caught up with the actor on a late-afternoon trip for for frozen yogurt down under on Monday, and they asked the 29-year-old about the split. Hemsworth wasn’t in the mood to talk, though, telling the outlet (below):
“You don’t understand what it’s like. I don’t want to talk about it mate.”
Wow! Definitely not feeling it right now — and we completely understand!
The star was in Australia to join famous brother Chris Hemsworth at his $4.3 million Byron Bay beach house, perhaps in an attempt to get away from all the hubbub surrounding the very public breakup and celebrate Thor’s birthday. He couldn’t escape it completely, however. Daily Mail Australia was able to capture the first photos of the 29-year-old since Saturday’s split news, too, where they describe him as having “a stern expression,” while “appearing a little protective in his stance.”

Liam may not want to talk about the split, but it appears Miley is taking things much better right now — or, perhaps she’s just coping in a very different way. Cyrus has been super-active on Instagram all weekend, sharing positive vibes and inspiring messages with her fans.
Furthermore, she’s already moved on romantically, it appears. Pics published over the weekend show the former Disney Channel star getting cozy with Brody Jenner‘s ex-wife ex-girlfriend Kaitlynn Carter on a trip to Italy!

It’s no wonder Liam doesn’t want to talk about it! We get it! And things look good on the outside for Miley right now, but she must certainly be dealing with some sadness about the split, as well. It’s only natural.
