Lupita Nyong'o Is Breathtaking On Her Third Cover Of Vogue & Gets Candid About Society’s Standards Of Beauty: 'I Cannot Run Away From Who I Am'

Lupita Nyong'o is STUNNING in Vogue!
Lupita Nyong’o
has just scored her THIRD cover for Vogue!
Completely blowing the rest of the October issues out of the water, the Queen of Katwe actress is beyond beautiful in a fiery orange Chanel dress for her cover shoot.

Photographed by Mario Testino, the 33-year-old shined in bold prints for the frame-worthy new issue shot in Kenya.
The fall fashions featured in the spread are obviously stunning, but the way Lupita wears them, takes the whole editorial to another level!
And along with the stunning pics, the Oscar winner also takes on society’s beauty standards! In the interview, she responds to one talent exec, Tracy Christian, who criticized how the starlet’s skin color would affect her career in Hollywood:

“I have to deafen my ears to that Christian lady. She is looking at me as part of the cultural tapestry. I am living and breathing. That person is not considering what I had for breakfast, how that is sitting in my stomach, and why I didn’t do well with that audition. I can’t think like that. I cannot run away from who I am and my complexion or the larger society and how they may view that. I realize that with what I shared at the Essence awards.”

Lupita continued:

“The European sense of beauty affects us all. I came home from college in the early two-thousands and saw ads on TV with a girl who can’t get a job. She uses this product. She gets her skin lighter. She gets the job. The lording of lighter skin is a common thing growing up in Nairobi. Being called ├óΓé¼╦£black mamba.’ The slow burn of recognizing something else is better than you.”

And speaking on giving a voice to people of color, the Eclipsed star shared:

“There are certain cards that have been dealt me that I take on. I want to create opportunities for other people of color because I’m fortunate enough to have a platform to do that. That is why [my characters in] Eclipsed and even Queen of Katwe are so important, to change the narrative, offer a new lens on African identity. Being able to use my platform to expand and diversify the African voice, I feel very passionate about that. It feels intentional, meaningful.”
