Maggie Gyllenhaal and her boyfriend, Peter Sarsgaard, will both be starring in the new Austin Pendleton-directed production of Anton Chekhov’s classic, Uncle Vanya.
Coming to off-Broadway’s Classic Stage Company in early 2009, Uncle Vanya is a tragic comedy about an old professor and his young wife, Yelena (Played by Gyllenhaael), who return to his old estate, rekindling old tensions between Vanya and his niece. Sarsgaard will play Astrov, a friend of the professor’s.
Previews will begin January 17 2009 with a limited engagement through March 1st.
An official opening date has not been announced yet.
