Mark Wahlberg Surprises Boston Marathon Runners With Inspiring Speech About 'Getting It Right' In Bombing Movie Patriots Day!

no title
Monday marks a particularly special day in Boston as the 120th Boston Marathon will be held throughout the city.
This has become even more emotional since the bombing attacks from 2013 transformed the event from an exhibition of human fitness to an expression of human indomitability.
Mark Wahlberg is making a movie about those tragic events, titled Patriots Day.
On Saturday, the Ted star decided to take some time away from filming to stop by the Revere Hotel Boston to visit the 68 members of the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital’s Race for Rehab team to give an inspiring speech!

Part of what makes this so cool is not only is Spaulding Rehab the location where 32 bombing survivors were treated following the tragedy, but there are three survivors on the current team — Heather Abbott, Roseanne Sdoia, and police officer Dic Donohue.
Mark showed up in a blue sweatshirt, his Red Sox baseball hat, and some blue jeans as he addressed the small group saying:

“Everybody knows somebody who was directly impacted by the bombings at the marathon, and what a horrible tragedy it was. And when they decided they were going to make this movie, they had come to me and asked me if I wanted to be a part of it, and I was like, I don’t think it’s a good idea.”

The 44-year-old went on to say:

“But then when I read the script then I realized, oh my God, this is so powerful and so inspiring and such a tribute to everybody: victims, the rescue workers, the police department, the FBI, everybody.”

Wahlberg continued:

“I also realized that if I wasn’t going to be a part of this somebody else was going to be … and I didn’t know if they would handle it and be as committed to getting it right as I would. So, I figured, you know what, I needed to be a part of this and I am so glad that I did.”

Marky Mark went on to make a very special promise to the running team that’s already raised almost $500,000 to help benefit Spaulding:

“I can guarantee every one of you guys that we are going to make every single person very, very proud, and that’s what we’re committed to doing. I pride myself on being able to come back and hold my head up high, and I want to promise you guys how committed I am ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ how committed we all are ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ to getting it right and making everybody proud.”

What a great message!
The actor’s film is set to open December 21 and also stars J.K. Simmons, John Goodman, and Michelle Monaghan. Will you be catching Patriots Day when it lands in theaters this holiday season?!
