Meghan Markle got a stern talking-to ahead of her wedding… when her alleged bullying ways were on display!
As of today — Monday May 19, 2025 — it’s been seven years since the Suits alum tied the knot to Prince Harry and joined the royal family — and it’s been a problematic AF romance (at least for those in their orbit) since day one! In an excerpt from royal biographer Katie Nicholl‘s 2022 book, The New Royals, which resurfaced this week, seemingly in honor of the anniversary, sources called out Meghan for being rude to staff. They said it was so bad it resulted in a royal scolding!

In the book, the author revealed she learned from one source that the mother of two had “berated” a caterer over the meals for the ceremony, detailing:
“On one occasion in the run-up to the wedding, Meghan went to Windsor Castle for a menu-tasting and ended up having a tense exchange with a member of staff.”
The insider claimed the issue revolved around the taste of egg in some of the food:
“Meghan was at the castle to taste some of the dishes, and told one of the caterers she could taste egg. She got quite upset, saying that the dish was meant to be vegan and macrobiotic.”
It’s unclear exactly what Meg said, but whatever it was, her “direct approach” was bad enough that word got back to the monarch! Elizabeth didn’t let the incident slide, either. The source shared:
“Suddenly the Queen walked in and said: ‘Meghan, in this family we don’t speak to people like that.'”
Dang!
Can y’all imagine getting called out by the literal Queen of England?? Yikes! We get things can be stressful before a wedding, but you’d think this would’ve been enough to cool Meg off. Instead, she kept having issues with more than just the staff!
Unfortunately for everyone at the Palace, the wedding chaos wasn’t the end of the drama, as we all know. The actress was accused of bullying by a staff member that same year, launching an internal investigation. Claims she’s difficult have haunted her for her entire public life since starting to date Harry. Journalist Tom Quinn writing in a February edition of The London Times that she earned herself the nickname “Duchess of Difficult” before Megxit and “Mystic Meg” due to her “new agey” views that were considered “so woke.” However, an insider was a little more lenient about her behavior than most have been, remarking:
“Through absolutely no fault of her own, Meghan wasn’t always great with her staff — she just wasn’t used to it as Harry was. One minute she would be really friendly, perhaps overfriendly, hugging staff and trying to make friends with them, and the next she would be irritated by the fact they wouldn’t respond instantly at all times of the day and night.”
Obviously, the Queen saw the red flags from early on — if this source was right, anyway.
