#TeamBrad just got its first official member!
On Monday, Melissa Etheridge came to Brad Pitt‘s defense amid the claims he was abusive with his children. During a candid chat with Andy Cohen on his SiriusXM radio show, the Come To My Window singer revealed she was “heartbroken” for her close pal and SLAMMED the troubling allegations made against the A-lister as “completely unfounded”.

The 55-year-old stated:
“It breaks my heart that anyone would take something as personal as your marriage and your relationship and your rights to your children and do it as purposefully as I see it’s being done.”
As you surely know, Etheridge has been close with Brad for years as she even performed at the Hollywood hunk’s wedding to Jennifer Aniston. Unfortunately, Melissa can sympathize with the Fight Club actor on a personal level since she too went through a brutal custody battle with her ex Tammy Lynn Michaels back in 2010.
So it’s no wonder the industry vet had some words for Angelina Jolie and her legal team on how they were handling this split. She continued:
“I’ve gone through family courts. I’ve been twice around this block, and I know it really well, and I know when there’s some forethought to just how mean and just how you’re going to put disinformation out there first.”
In fact, it seems as though the veteran rocker is hoping to rebuild her relationship with Pitt now that he’s no longer with Angie. Apparently the I’m The Only One artist fell out of touch with the Allied star after he got together with the humanitarian. Melissa explained:
“I really hope that he reaches back out. There are a lot of us who haven’t seen him in 10 years… We all lost a friend.”
However, this wasn’t the only bit of shade the hitmaker had to throw Jolie’s way as she also brought up the part the Maleficent actress played in the demise of Billy Bob Thornton and Laura Dern‘s relationship. The rockstar added:
“I was around when Angelina was not doing nice things with Billy Bob to Laura Dern. I went through that on a personal level, and then to know the side of Jennifer and Brad├óΓé¼┬ª I helped Laura move out of her house with Billy Bob ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ I like broke into their home to get their stuff out because it was so nasty.”
Man, oh man.
Although, ever since Brad and Angelina settled on a temporary custody agreement, it looks as though the twosome could have an amicable divorce. Still, if their legal proceedings take a contentious turn, Melissa is more than willing to be in Brad’s corner.
Now we just have to wait and see who else vocalizes their support for Pitt…
