Michelle Williams Exits Broadway Role Per Doctors' Orders

michelle williams leaves broadway role

Just two weeks after joining the Tony award-winning Broadway show Once On This Island, Michelle Williams has doctors orders to step down from her role, People reports.
While it’s unclear at this time why she is stepping away from the show, the former Destiny’s Child member has been previously candid about her struggles with mental health, issuing a public statement after checking herself into a facility earlier this year.

A rep from the musical announced in a statement:

“Effective immediately, Michelle T. Williams has been advised by her doctors to take a leave of absence from performing. As a result, the singer/actress will not continue in the Tony Award winning Broadway production of Once On This Island.”

The news follows a recent split last week from her fiance and costar of reality show Chad and Michelle, Pastor Chad Johnson.
A pal shared with Radar that the breakup has put a lot of pressure on the singer, and that the network was prompting them to reshoot episodes to include the breakup:

“She is shut down. She was told she had to reshoot the last episode of her reality show with Chad to include that they were calling off their wedding. That’s very emotional for her, she doesn’t want to relive that.”

We hope she continues to prioritize herself and her wellbeing no matter what!
