Michelle Williams Got Secretly Married -- To A Man With Whom She Shares A Heartbreaking Connection...

Michelle Williams got married this month in a secret ceremony in the Adirondacks — to a man with whom she shares a very deep and sad connection.
Her new husband is singer-songwriter Phil Elverum, who performs under the stage name Mount Eerie. Phil lost his wife, cartoonist Geneviève Castrée, to cancer in 2016, when their daughter was just a year old.

He has released two critically acclaimed albums about the loss, A Crow Looked at Me and Now Only.
It is a pain Michelle is all too familiar with. Her daughter Matilda‘s father was the late Heath Ledger, taken from them and the world before his time.
The couple met through a mutual friend and the relationship quickly became “very sacred and very special” to Michelle.
She told Vanity Fair she “never gave up on love” but had a hard time finding the “radical acceptance” she got from Ledger.

“I always say to Matilda, ‘Your dad loved me before anybody thought I was talented, or pretty, or had nice clothes.'”

Oh man, we are going to cry.
She has some advice on the matter too:

“Don’t settle. Don’t settle for something that feels like a prison, or is hard, or hurts you. If it doesn’t feel like love, it’s not love.”

It clearly is love between Michelle and Phil.
This month, he and his daughter packed up and moved from Washington state to Brooklyn to live with Michelle and Matilda.
Michelle says of the relationship:

“Obviously I’ve never once in my life talked about a relationship, but Phil isn’t anyone else. And that’s worth something. Ultimately the way he loves me is the way I want to live my life on the whole. I work to be free inside of the moment. I parent to let Matilda feel free to be herself, and I am finally loved by someone who makes me feel free.”

Wow. We can kind of understand why she wouldn’t want the world to get its hands on that. It sounds too perfect.
