Mindy Kaling easily makes orange and blue stripes look chic on the cover of Flare magazine!
We love all the colors and patterns in this shoot! It’s almost like a spring or summer editorial rather than an autumn one!
And Mindy rocks it! From the floral Prada to the red lace Dolce & Gabbana she wears in the spread, she looks good in everything!
Mindy also unabashedly admits her love for clothing, saying:
“I love clothing so much; it almost scares me sometimes. Whoever said, ‘Anyone can wear a dress, it’s how you dress during the day that matters’—I really believe that.”
She admits to a serious weakness for online shopping, saying:
“I do tons, and then massive returns.”
A lot of the actress and writer’s love for fashion can be traced back to her mother, whom Mindy describes as very put-together.
And although her mother died of pancreatic cancer before The Mindy Show debuted, Mindy knows she would’ve loved the fashions on the show. She said:
“She would love the clothes so much. I had zero rebellion against my mother. I was terrified of her, and I thought she was very glamorous, and I just wanted to emulate her all the time.├óΓé¼┬¥
Mindy also has praise for her stylist Hayley Atkin for not forcing her to wear boring stuff just because it looks good. She said:
├óΓé¼┼ôIf you love fashion and you├óΓé¼Γäóre not skinny and something fits you, most stylists are like, ├óΓé¼╦£That├óΓé¼Γäós great for you,├óΓé¼Γäó and it sucks,├óΓé¼┬¥ she says. ├óΓé¼┼ôI have my own taste and I want to try weird stuff and Hayley├óΓé¼Γäós not going to put me in a fuchsia shift just because it fits me and hides my quote-unquote problem areas.”
Her quirky choices don’t always land on our best dressed lists, but we hope that never stops her from trying new things!
That’s what fashion is all about!
