Nipsey Hussle’s children have been appointed their new guardians months after his untimely death.
According to TMZ, a judge signed off on the late rapper’s immediate family members becoming legal guardians to his 10-year-old daughter Emani after the family claimed her birth mother, Tanisha Foster, was unfit for the role.
The court said Nipsey’s family provided sufficient evidence for their petition, so the Grammy nominee’s siblings, Samantha Smith and Sam Asghedom — and his mother, Angelique Smith — have been named Emani’s guardians.

Meanwhile, things have gone much smoother for Lauren London, Nipsey’s most recent girlfriend, as she was appointed guardianship over their three-year-old son, Kross’ estate.
TMZ notes the word “estate” is misleading here because it’s referring to Kross’ inherited fortune, as opposed to the type of estate created when someone dies. Lauren is now the go-to person who will handle her son’s new funds, which are said to be half of Nipsey’s estate at the tune of $1 million. Emani is expected to inherit the other half of her dad’s estate.
While Tanisha battled with the Double Up performer’s sibs over the care of her daughter, there was reportedly never an issue between Nipsey’s family and Lauren when it came to the care of Kross. Lauren and Nipsey’s family were actually incredibly close; they even banded together at the 2019 BET Awards to accept the Humanitarian Award on his behalf.

After the award was presented by T.I., the family took the stage and Nipsey’s grandmother expressed immeasurable gratitude for the outpouring of support the family received since the performer’s death back in March.
When it was London’s turn to speak, she said:
“I just want to thank you guys for all of the love and support and the marathon continues again.”
The marathon is a reference to Nipsey’s store Marathon Clothing Company in Los Angeles, which is where he happened to be at the time of his tragic death.

As we reported, the 33-year-old was fatally gunned down outside earlier this year. His alleged killer, Eric Holder, was charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder, and one count of possession of a firearm. He’s currently awaiting trial.
We’re glad both of Nipsey’s children have the care they need.
