Oprah Winfrey is one of the most successful people on the planet, so it is no surprise that one of the most esteemed universities in the country—Harvard University— invited the fa-bu-lous O to speak to the graduating class of smarty pants this year!
It was announced this morning that the talk show host, entreprenuer, entertainer, and philanthropist will be Harvard’s principal speaker at the Ivy league’s 362nd commencement ceremony on May 30 during “afternoon exercises.”
Along with the announcement on the Harvard Gazette‘s website, President Drew Faust wrote:
“Oprah’s journey from her grandmother’s Mississippi farm to becoming one of the world’s most admired women is one of the great American success stories. She has used her extraordinary influence and reach as a force for good in the world, with a constant focus on the importance of educational opportunity and the virtues of serving others.”
Wow. Great choice! We still tear up every time we think about her speech at Stanford University’s commencement.
Not only is she an amazing public speaker, but she also has an unbelievably moving rags-to-riches story.
If she can’t send those braniacs into the world feeling like they can conquer anything, than we don’t know who can!!!
