Back in 2013, shortly after Oscar Pistorius made his famous appearance at the London 2012 Summer Olympics and Paralympics, he shot and killed his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in his home.

Since the tragic event, there’s been a lot of drama surrounding the case as Oscar was originally convicted in 2014 but the original sentencing was overturned due to a technicality.
Well, a couple of weeks ago, Pistorius had to return to court for his new sentencing and the judge has finally made a decision and sentenced the 29-year-old to six years in prison!
Judge Thokozile Masipa said in a statement regarding the athlete:

“He’s a fallen hero, he’s lost his career and he’s ruined financially. The worst is that having taken life of a fellow human being in the manner that he did he cannot be at peace. Recovery is possible, but it will depend mostly on the accused.”

Pistorius was previously convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to five years and actually served a few months before being released on bail during the appeal process.
After the appeals court ruled that the Blade Runner was guilty, the case was sent back to Thokozile for a new sentence.
Seeing as how the appeal just prolonged the former Olympian’s wait to serve his sentence AND he ended up getting an additional year, we’re sure he’s not too thrilled about the decision — but hey, it could have been the maximum penalty of 15 years!
What do you think about Oscar only getting six years?!
