Pamela Anderson Heartbreakingly Reveals She Battled Depression For ‘A Couple Decades’ After Baywatch

Pamela Anderson is getting honest about her history with mental health.

The Last Showgirl star appeared at the Zurich Film Festival in Switzerland over the weekend, where she accepted the coveted Golden Eye Award. While promoting her new film, which hits theaters later this month, Pamela opened up about what a “wonderful” few years she’s been having. It’s been a revelation for her as she’s been struggling with depression for years. According to Variety, she admitted:

“I never thought I would be on stage, receiving an award like that. I just want to keep working. I am excited to do more. I look at it now and it feels like I went from Baywatch to Broadway. I don’t know what happened in between, it’s all a big blur. I am just happy to be here, in this moment, because I think I have had depression for a couple of decades.”

Poor Pamela! After Baywatch ended in 2001, it was 21 years before she made her Broadway debut in Chicago. A “couple of decades” is a LONG time to deal with a struggle like that!

But thankfully, with her memoir Love, Pamela, and her 2023 documentary, Pamela, a Love Story, the 57-year-old has taken back control over her own narrative. And she says that it’s what helped her land her role in Gia Coppola’s The Last Showgirl!

Speaking about the documentary, she explained:

Ryan [White] made that doc and that’s how Gia saw me. I always knew I was capable of more. It’s great to be a part of pop culture, but it’s a blessing and a curse. People fall in love with you because of a bathing suit. It has taken a long time, but I am here.”

We’re so here for the Pamelaissance! And we’re so glad she’s feeling better mental health-wise! Being yourself is so important!
