Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped out for a movie night in Jamaica — but it’s causing some controversy!
On Tuesday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex showed up to the Jamaican film premiere for the new biopic Bob Marley: One Love, which will be released on February 14. They even walked the red carpet, with the Suits alum stunning in a black spaghetti strap top with a Carolina Herrera skirt and Jennifer Meyer earrings. The Spare author looked handsome in a suit, as well.
They both seemed in great spirits as they posed for pics and chatted with other attendees, including the musician’s son, Ziggy, and the Jamaican Prime Minister, Andrew Holness. The president and CEO of Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon, Brian Robbins, and his wife Tracy James were also there — and that’s how the Archewell co-founders actually snagged an invite! Per People, the couple are longtime fans of Bob Marley’s music and message and they were thrilled when the Robbins family, whom they are friendly with, asked them to come.

So what’s the big deal??
Well, apparently, they chatted up the WRONG person on the carpet — and it could be seen as a major diss at the royal family!
Phil Dampier told the DailyMail.com on Wednesday that the couple posing for a picture with the Prime Minister (seen above in the blue suit) is “insensitive” because he’s currently trying to cut ties with the British monarchy to have the country become a republic. Addressing the politics, the outspoken royalist explained:
“Under normal circumstances there would be nothing wrong with them going to a film premiere. But at a time when his father is going under the knife and Jamaica is making noises about ditching the monarchy, this is rather insensitive. […] It’s almost certain they [Jamaica] will go their own way eventually.”
Noting that the Harry & Meghan stars have “happy memories” of Jamaica, the insider added:
“Clearly, the couple felt at home. But it’s sending out a message that they support that country when they haven’t found the time to make a public show of support for the King and the Princess of Wales.”
As Perezcious readers know, King Charles III is to undergo a medical procedure this week and Princess Catherine is currently in the hospital recovering from surgery. While the parents of two have supposedly sent them their “best wishes” privately, they’ve yet to do so for the whole world to see. Acknowledging this, Phil added:
“They may have done so in private, but they are certainly not going out of their way to say they want a reconciliation, and this appearance emphasizes yet again the different world they now live in.”
Similarly, Richard Fitzwilliams thinks “their appearance in Jamaica clearly sends a message.” While pointing out the Sussexes “are well aware that the Caribbean tour William and Catherine went on which included Jamaica in March 2022 was considered highly problematic,” Richard noted:
“In their documentary Harry and Meghan included talking heads who criticised the Commonwealth, which was disgraceful. They have clearly chosen this difficult time to remind the Royal Family of what they have lost. It appears to be a tactic and the Palace will take note that once again, it is not wise to trust the Sussexes.”
Oof…
Do you think Harry and Meghan realized the potential repercussions of schmoozing with the prime minister? And if so, are they trying to take sides?? Or was this connection just a coincidence? Sound OFF (below)!
