Prince William Was Sad Princess Catherine Couldn't Go To BAFTAs With Him!

Prince William is letting his film lover flag fly.

On Sunday, the Duke of Cambridge carved time out of his busy schedule to make an appearance at the 2024 BAFTA Awards in London — but had to do so without his wife! As we’ve been following, Princess Catherine is in the midst of her journey to recovery after receiving a serious but planned abdominal surgery. So while she stayed and probably watched from home, her 41-year-old husband went to check things out in person.

While at the awards show, William apologized for the Duchess of Cambridge’s absence, telling Elaine Bedell, chief executive of the Southbank Center:

“I’m sorry Catherine’s not here. She does love the BAFTAs.”

He did add, though, that all the films he watches, Catherine watches with him! He said:

“All the ones I watch, she watches with me. So we go through it carefully.”

That’s pretty sweet!

However, with a busy last year and now having to step up for more royal duties in the wake of his wife’s condition and his father King Charles III’s prostate cancer diagnosis, he said he’s watched “the fewest” of the nominated films he ever has before. He explained:

“I’ve had a lot on my mind … But hopefully, I’ll catch up.”

According to the Daily Telegraph, he said he hasn’t gotten around to watching Barbie quite yet — but did sing Oppenheimer’s praises. He also had a hilarious viral moment with Ayo Edebiri as he congratulated the nominees of the Rising Star award. He’s probably seen The Bear, but we just LOVE the idea of Will and Kate laughing their arses off at Bottoms! Ha!
