Even in her own time of crisis, Princess Catherine was still putting others first.
Shortly after sharing that she had been diagnosed with an unidentified form of cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy treatment in March (after weeks of conspiracy theories about her well-being and whereabouts), Kate Middleton received a note from a Bollywood actress, Manisha Koirala, who survived stage 4 ovarian cancer in 2013 and has been active with cancer foundations ever since.

When she heard the tough news, Manisha wrote to the royal to offer her support, never expecting anything in return. But she ended up getting a VERY sweet note in response! The actress said this about it in a statement to the Nepalese publication Online Khabar:
“I wanted to reach out to HRH The Princess of Wales to send my good wishes, particularly due to my own experiences. I am deeply heartened to receive such a warm response from her and wish her the very best of health.”
So nice!
And now we’re so curious about what Kate said!
Manisha was diagnosed in 2012 and received treatment at New York City’s Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. She has since taken it upon herself to help advocate for cancer patients, as she explained:
“I want to use my voice to not only support cancer patients but also to raise awareness about the need for equitable healthcare access and the importance of knowing the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer. Having faced cancer myself, I know how isolating and challenging the journey can be, and I believe it is essential that we all play a part in changing that reality for others.”
Now, Kate will likely be among those cancer survivors who are bringing more awareness to this important cause, too!
Last month, the 42-year-old announced she is “cancer free” and has ended her chemo treatment. While she was eager to return to work, she insisted her priority would remain on her health and family for the time being.
Since finishing her own treatment, though, she has gone out of her way to be supportive of others going through a similar battle, such as when she and Prince William hosted Liz Hatton at Windsor Castle to photograph an event. The 16-year-old is battling a terminal cancer diagnosis and taking photos of a royal was on her bucket list. After the event, Liz and her family met up with William and Kate for a personal interaction.
This is likely just the start of a lot more cancer awareness initiatives from the royal family, especially since King Charles III is also still battling his own diagnosis. We’re sure hearing from a cancer survivor in the early days of her treatment was really helpful, so it’s no wonder Kate wants to pass that support along to others!
