She’s making her pocketbook work Hollywood-style.
J.K. Rowling is putting her money where her political heart is.
According to a new report, the Harry Potter author has donated $1.8 million to Britain’s Labour Party and praised the party’s fight against child poverty.
For the most part, the UK’s Labour Party = the US’s Democratic Party and the UK’s Conservative Party = the US’s Republican Party.
Rowling said that vulnerable families will fare much better under Labour than under the Conservatives. She went on to say that the Conservative tax proposals would make it harder for single parents to work their way out of poverty as she did when she began writing her novels in cafes in Edinburgh, Scotland.
So it looks like she’s supporting Labour even though it will cost her more tax dollars.
She’s so rich, she won’t feel it!
The report also mentions that this is Rowling’s first ever donation to the Labour Party.
It was also mentioned that this will give the struggling party a much needed boost.
