R. Kelly might not be embarking on an international tour after all.
The embattled R&B star deleted a tweet announcing he was planning a tour in Australia, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka after realizing that virtually no one in those locations wants him there. Particularly, the Australian government.
The “NEW TOUR ALERT” Kelly announced on Tuesday was met with a flood of backlash from critics who felt he should instead be behind bars due to his ongoing abuse scandal.

Among the many to voice opposition was Australian lawmaker Shayne Neumann, who wants the country to bar Kelly from performing there if his concert plan moves forward. He said in a statement:

“If the Immigration Minister suspects that a non-citizen does not pass the character test, or there is a risk to the community while they are in Australia, he should use the powers he has under the Migration Act to deny or cancel their visa.”

Australia has successfully denied performers from entering the country using this method before: Chris Brown, Chelsea Manning, and far-right activist Gavin McInnes have all been barred on character grounds.
But seeing as how quickly Kelly’s took the hint, lawmakers might not have to mute him after all. Is the singer finally muting himself?
