Police raided R. Kelly‘s recording studio on Wednesday, which got Chicago locals thinking he was getting busted in relations to the many allegations of sexual abuse of underage girls.
But according to TMZ‘s sources, the raid was unrelated to the investigation into his possible sex crimes.

Nope, the Cook County Building and Zoning Department got wind there were people allegedly living in the studio, which isn’t zoned for residential use; he also apparently owes $166k in back rent.
A Chicago spokesperson told the outlet cops did indeed find evidence someone had been living in the building — as well as other zoning violations.
Sadly, we’ll likely see Kelly face justice for these crimes long before the alleged ones committed against young girls…
