Norma McCorvey -- Nationally Known As 'Jane Roe' Of The Landmark Roe v. Wade Decision -- Has Died

This is a big moment in the abortion battle — and the landmark abortion decision that has governed that aspect of women’s health in America has lost its nameske.
Norma McCorvey, who you probably know better as the woman who was ‘Jane Roe’ in the landmark Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade, has died. She was 69 years old.

According to reports, she died of heart failure.
To put her life in context, McCorvey was only 22 years old when she became the center of one of the most vicious legal battles in American history, and in 1973 the Supreme Court heard her case on being pro-choice — and decided to side with her.
Interestingly, in her personal life, McCorvey actually shifted her position on abortion rights in later years and became a pro-life advocate in the years following the decision.
Obviously, all of this is applicable now because the Supreme Court may turn over to scale back — or eliminate — the gains made by Roe v. Wade.
And now, the landmark case’s namesake won’t be around to see the legal battles happen.
