Looks like Alexander McQueen and Louis Vuitton have started a virtual runway trend.
While the fashion industry is still feeling the pinch from the crappy economy, designers like Ralph Lauren are looking for more affordable ways to showcase their new looks and the answer seems to be the internet.
So rather than putting on a $1.5 million fashion show the label will be showing it’s holiday collection online on December 11th and it cost them less than $50,000 to do!
Marketing chief Dave Lauren says “The cost of a fashion show has become prohibitive. And because of the economy, fewer members of the press and buyers are making the trip to New York to see the show.”
With their virtual show the number of viewers will dwarf the usual 700 audience members in attendance. The December 11th presentation is expected to get more than 40 million page views.
