Vanderpump Rules star Scheana Shay has a theory about Justin Hartley and Chrishell Stause’s breakup!
As we reported, the Selling Sunset star subtly suggested her estranged husband may have cheated on her (possibly with his current girlfriend Sofia Pernas) before the actor reportedly told her via text that he had filed for divorce. More like Justin HARSHly, are we right? But now Shay, who used to be friends with Chrishell AND the This Is Us star, has another hypothesis: Justin simply got too famous for the former soap opera star!

In the latest episode of her podcast, Scheananigans With Scheana Shay, in which she interviewed Chrishell’s Selling Sunset co-star Christine Quinn, the Bravolebrity gave her two cents about the downfall of her former pals’ relationship, speculating that Chrishell grew envious of her then-hubby when he became the bigger star. She told listeners:
“I think part of it was when Justin started to gain more fame than she’s ever had. I think there was a jealousy, competitiveness that in a relationship could ruin it ultimately.”
As fans know, Chrishell was a star on All My Children and then appeared on Days Of Our Lives before she turned to reality TV, and Justin blew up thanks to his starring role on the NBC megahit tearjerker. According to Scheana, this power shift was a big reason their marriage fell apart. She explained:
“To have like, because she was on the show when she was really young for several years. So to have like that level of fame, and then All My Children gets canceled, no one knows who you are anymore, you’re not really a working actress, now you’re in real estate and now you’re the one behind the camera.”
Ow!
We should take Scheana’s comments with a grain of salt, though, seeing as she had a falling out with Chrishell a few years ago — and, yes, she spoke about that, too! She explained of their friendship, which began roughly “six years ago”:
“So I was a fan of Chrishell. I grew up watching All My Children. She was one of my favorites on the show. I guess she watched Vanderpump Rules… [We became] pretty good friends. Like I hung out with her and Justin several times. He had invited myself to some of the This Is Us events. Like I said he showed us the pilot before it even came out.”
But Chrishell apparently iced Shay out shortly after Justin became a household name. According to the Pump Rules star, Chrishell would “say like that now that Justin’s like a big, you know, TV and movie star she can’t be seen with the reality people.” She dished:
“I was like: “Bitch you were a fan of me just as much as I was a fan of you! We’ve all become friends. But now because Justin’s on This Is Us like I’m not good enough for you to hang out with?”
So, again… take it with a grain of salt. After Scheana’s podcast dropped, Chrishell’s rep released a yoga-prayer-hands-emoji-style statement, telling Us Weekly:
“Chrishell has had a lot on her plate with what she has been through in the past year. Her focus is on the positive and about how women should uplift each other rather than tear each other down. She is moving forward and wishes them the best.”
Well, sounds like the former friends won’t be reconciling anytime soon. But we have to wonder: is there any truth to Shay’s theory? Or was it more about someone getting just in to some other woman?? Share your thoughts in the comments.
