Plans for the next season of Selling Sunset are still unknown… with just weeks to go before filming!
The new season just dropped last week and already two prime cast members, Chrishell Stause and Chelsea Lazkani, are threatening to walk away! The threats are just about issues with costars Nicole Young and Amanda Lynn, respectively — but Netflix is taking them seriously! Variety already reported that there will be no reunion due to the tensions behind the scenes, and now a new source is opening up about the fate of a future season!
On Thursday, DailyMail.com learned from a source close to the show that there are plans to start filming Season 9 next month (though an official renewal announcement has not been made yet). Regardless, right now, it’s unclear what agents will be featured!

While the cast list is not set, the insider hit back at Chrishell and Chelsea’s latest social media threats to quit, calling their declarations mere “publicity stunts.” Oof! Ultimately, the decision will be up to the streamer, the confidant explained:
“Filming for season nine has not started yet, and there is still uncertainty about who will be returning or leaving.”
But not taking the agents’ claims seriously, the source added:
“The details are still up in the air regarding the cast — but threats to quit from some are quite clearly a publicity stunt.”
Dang! Chrishell was pretty bold when she called out the producers for letting Nicole spread a “disgusting lie” about pal Emma Hernan supposedly sleeping with a married man — even insisting she’d break her contract regardless of a possible lawsuit just so she’d never have to work with Nicole again. Meanwhile, Chelsea doesn’t want anything to do with Bre Tiesi‘s friend Amanda Lynn, who gossiped about her divorce on-screen and whom she also alleges is “racist.” (Per the outlet, Amanda — via her rep — has apologized for using the n-word in resurfaced tweets.)
Considering the issues at hand, the Oppenheim Group employees have both seemed very clear about their wishes moving forward, so why doesn’t the source believe they’d really walk away?? The insider pointed out:
“Selling Sunset is one of the biggest shows globally, offering exposure that is worth millions — it’s invaluable, really. In a career that thrives on visibility and public perception, walking away from that kind of platform would be a very unwise decision. The rumors seem more about generating buzz than any real attempt to leave the show.”
To be fair, all this quitting drama is one of the main things people are talking about following the new season, so, this would be a pretty smart PR plan! These ladies might be pissed, but they aren’t dumb! They know how to make headlines!
BTW, if you’re thinking Chrishell and Chelsea have a lot of power behind the scenes, think again. They may be the stars of the show right now, but that doesn’t mean they can easily make demands, such as refusing to film with certain agents. Sharing who’s in control, the insider concluded:
“Netflix holds the final authority on casting decisions, leaving the cast without any control over who is selected or whom they film with. The cast is fully aware that there are countless girls eager to take their spot in an instant.”
That’s an understatement! Amanda, for instance, is one of those girls vying for a full-time spot on the show!
It’ll be interesting to see what happens. Chrishell has been on the TV show from the start. We could see her ready to spread her wings and fly off to other ventures… but would she really? As the source said, this show offers a big platform!
The same goes for Chelsea who was a later addition to the series and has always been stirring the pot! Are they both willing to die on this hill? Or will they fold for the paycheck? We’re gonna have to wait and see. FWIW, the series has been pretty good about rebounding following big casting changes — such as after Christine Quinn‘s exit! So, we doubt this would be the end of the series.
