Talk about shocking news — Serena Williams has lost in the very first round of the 2012 French Open! Nobody saw this coming!
And that’s not to say that her opponent, Virginie Razzano, didn’t play a great match OR didn’t have the talent to bring her down… it’s just…
Wow. This is the first time she’s been knocked out in the first round at the French Open. She started in 1998.
That’s a big number to stop in its tracks!
Virginie even played through some tough calls against her to bring out the 4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-3 victory!
When asked about it, Serena said:
“You know, that’s life.”
It sure is, Serena. It sure is.
It was a wonderful try, anyway!
