Saturday Night Live is back, baby!
On Saturday, the beloved sketch comedy show returned with its premiere episode of season 50. And the cold open brought the HEAT! Maya Rudolph lit up screens portraying presidential candidate Kamala Harris, joking about being America’s “fun aunt,” or “funt.” But she wasn’t alone up there on stage — comedian Jim Gaffigan played her running mate Tim Walz. He brought the Minnesota governor’s signature smile, and joked about his salary as a former teacher while sporting a “Kirkland brand” Costco suit. Ha! OH, and Andy Samberg dropped in playing Kamala’s husband Doug Emhoff, who joked about how he would decorate the White House as the country’s first first gentleman. Lolz!
The broadcast then cut to a faux Donald Trump rally where James Austin Johnson returned as the 45th president. He stood behind a protective shield amid the multiple assassination attempts on the 78-year-old’s life and joked about missing having Joe Biden as an opponent. He even slid in a Diddy “freak off” jab amid all the disgraced rapper’s legal issues!

His running mate JD Vance, who was played by Bowen Yang, joked about being a “creep” and a “weirdo,” and hilariously didn’t impress James’ Trump or the fake audience members within the skit. Lolz! And back at the faux Harris rally, surprise guest Dana Carvey stepped out on stage to portray a confused Biden… And could barely keep a straight face while doing so!
