Sophia Bush Says One Tree Hill Showrunner Grabbed Her Ass -- And She Hit Him 'Fucking Hard'!

no title
We have already heard much — too much — about Mark Schwahn‘s behavior.
The showrunner was fired from E!‘s The Royals earlier this year amid a great many accusations of sexual harassment.
But before The Royals there was One Tree Hill. In a statement earlier this year Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton weighed in on their former boss’s behavior. But there’s a great story you’ve never heard.

During a wide-ranging, tea-spilling convo with Andy Cohen for his Sirius XM show, Sophia recalls when Schwahn sexually harassed her — and her amazing instinctual reaction!
She says:

“The first time Mark Schwahn grabbed my ass I hit him in front of six other producers. And I hit him fucking hard.”

Amazing! But sadly this wasn’t a TV show, and she didn’t get to walk away to a slow clap and never have to think about the jerk again. Schwahn was still the boss.
And, as she found out later, he took it out on her in the writers’ room:

“And he came back to LA and I was told years later by one of the then writers who became an EP that he came back being like, ‘That fucking entitled bitch, who does she think she is?'”

At least that writer had her back — or tried:

“And this very sweet man named Mike, who I love and who is like a ride or die for me, was like, ‘Maybe you just shouldn’t touch the girls.’ And, you know, Mark gave him the option of shut up and keep your job or get out.”

Sadly, that’s how it is in every workplace, isn’t it? A little power goes right to these jerks’ heads.

Or, as Sophia puts it:

“I mean look, we’re not the only group of girls who have had a boss who is a pig.”

She says when it came to OTH, “it was the best of times, it was the worst of times” — the worst thanks mostly to Schwahn:

“That show for us was very interesting because at times, it was wonderful, and at times it really wasn’t. Our writer’s room was in LA, so we had plenty of time where he wasn’t on set… So we had sort of highlight-reel, coming-of-age, romcom shit together, and then we also had, like, batten down the hatches, he’s coming.”

Sophia says the hitting incident made it “very clear” she was off-limits, but not everyone was able to get that message across:

“We knew when he was super obsessed with one girl on our show that he started trying to bang down her hotel room door in the middle of the night.”

Gross.
