Queen Latifah is no stranger to success – after all they don’t call her a queen for nothing. Which is why we weren’t TOO surprised to learn that her televised remake of Steel Magnolias set some Lifetime records with 6.5 million people tuning in to see the made-for-television movie.
But that doesn’t mean we aren’t still VERY impressed by the astronomical success this movie has achieved.
To put things in perspective, this was Lifetime’s third most watched original telecast ever, and it also posted the network’s best ratings since 2006 – say what?!?!
Topping it all off – it was the most watched two hour original cable movie since 2007 – the movie averaged 3.2 million views among viewers in the 25-52 age demographic which hasn’t happened to a Lifetime movie in SEVENTEEN years!!!
This is especially impressive considering that at this time last week the movie was in some serious legal trouble and many questioned whether the television movie would ever see the light of day in the first place.
But thankfully it did, and we were able to enjoy this rousing success!!
Where were you when Steel Magnolias toppled the cable movie kingdom?!?!
