Not every studio is hopping on the superhero movie bandwagon!
It’s been reported that to help launch its new era of monster films, Universal is rebooting The Mummy!
And according to Variety, Tom Cruise is in talks to star in the leading role!
Last summer, the studio assembled a team of Star Trek producer Alex Kurtzman and Furious 7 writer Chris Morgan to develop a multi-film universe where Universal’s classic monster movie library can be resurrected!

The studio is trying to develop a Marvel or DC Comics style universe for its famous characters — but instead of Iron Man and Thor, it will be Dracula, Frankenstein’s monster, and The Wolf Man!
So basically, Universal’s answer to The Avengers films is the cast of Hotel Transylvania? LOLz!
As for The Mummy reboot, Cruise will reportedly play a major part in development of the revival. The plot is still under wraps (get it?) other than that it will be set in present day, not like the previous Brendan Fraser-led installments!
