Tracy Morgan is having a morning, y’all. Or he’s just fully transformed into his 30 Rock character Tracy Jordan!
The star of The Last OG went on The Today Show on Tuesday to promote the most recent season of his show, and while speaking via video chat with host Hoda Kotb, the conversation inevitably turned to the comedian’s own self-quarantine activities at home.

Always a firecracker, the 30 Rock star was joking (we think?) in the strange clip, at one point telling the poor TV host that he’d purchased a 600 lb. silverback gorilla he now wanted to have tested for the coronavirus. Wackier still, the comedian seemed to earnestly throw his support behind Donald Trump, though it’s now clear the President’s administration has been painfully incompetent in combatting the threat of COVID-19. OK then!
But the most bizarre moment — and the one that got Kotb to really raise her eyebrows — came early on, when Tracy explained how he and his wife were getting through quarantine with a series of bizarre, intricate role playing scenarios. Uhhh….
Morgan said:
“Me and my wife been quarantined for three weeks, so she’s pregnant three times. Every week she got pregnant. We’re also roleplaying a lot now. She playing a young maiden who’s grandfather was infected with coronavirus, and I’m the scientist who discovered a cure, and she’ll do anything to save her grandfather’s life. Anything.”
What the…
The interview turned slightly more serious from there (well, some of it did, at least) but that role playing quote landing on a live morning talk show is just **chef’s fingers** WILD!!!

That first minute or two is just… well, we guess that’s why they pay Hoda the big bucks, ya know?! Way to keep it together and soldier through, girl! Like a true live TV professional! LOLz!!!

Twitter users had a LOT of thoughts about Morgan’s interview, too, as is typically the case with so many viral morning show moments. Most people were understandably put off by the comedian’s bizarre statements early on, as you can see:

“you have to wonder what the thought process was behind putting a quarantined Tracy Morgan on live TV but I’m sure glad they did”
