Wendy Williams Says 'There Is Hope' For Drug Addicts To Overcome Their Addictions: 'I’m Living Proof'

Wendy Williams gives PSA to help others with substance abuse

Need proof people battling addiction can recover? Look no further than your favorite daytime talk show host.
Wendy Williams *Hunter* released a national public service announcement Friday for The Hunter Foundation and T.R.U.S.T., encouraging those who struggle with drug addiction or substance abuse to seek help.
Sitting on the set of her talk show with a hot cup of tea, the 54-year-old said she’s “living proof” that “there is hope” for those suffering from addiction. She then promoted the organization she founded with her husband Kevin Hunter, which she said “recently launched a nationwide hotline to offer treatment resources” for those battling drug addiction or substance abuse.

She explained:

“The calls are being answered by specially-trained, certified recovery coaches. They’re very smart. They conduct screenings to determine your needs. The substance abuse will be taken care of.”

The TV personality went on to describe the resources the The Hunter Foundation would provide for addicts, which include “referrals for long- or short-term treatment at facilities all around the world: detox, rehab, sober living and outpatient centers everywhere, nationwide.”
Wendy, who has recently opened up about her own issues with substance abuse, then directed viewers to the foundation’s website:

“If you’re an addict or a substance abuser, don’t be ashamed — help is here for you or a family member or a loved one. Call. Don’t be ashamed, there is hope.”

Wendy would know.
The hotline (888-5HUNTER) was originally announced a few weeks ago, along with the host’s personal revelation that she’s been living in a sober house.

But as evidenced by Wendy’s own personal journey, overcoming substance abuse isn’t easy.
As we reported, the daytime diva allegedly checked out of her sober living home last week and was apparently found drunk by her team — a relapse that was said to be triggered by her recent health complications and the birth of her husband’s alleged love child with his mistress, Sharina Hudson.

Despite their rumored marital drama, Wendy and Kevin seem to remain a united frontat least when the cameras are on — and are using their foundation to help the lives of others.
Their efforts have already paid off. Since it launched on March 11, the hotline has received 10,000 calls. Williams spoke on the “remarkable” number in a statement, noting:

“10,000 calls in three weeks is remarkable! We’re doing our part by getting the word out. All it takes is one call to get on the right path. We’re here to help.”

Way to pay it forward, gurl!
The Wendy Williams show is currently on a pre-scheduled, week-long break. Props to Wendy for getting the help she needs and helping others do the same.
