Wendy Williams‘ ex-husband wants to see her in divorce court in person amid concerns over her well-being!
Kevin Hunter filed new court documents late last week demanding that Wendy should not be allowed to be represented in court by her New York-based guardian Sabrina Morrissey, but instead must show up to a New Jersey courtroom herself to have their divorce hearings play out. And a judge appears to be on his side…
As Perezcious readers will recall, Morrissey was named Wendy’s temporary guardian way back in 2022 after Wells Fargo froze the star’s bank accounts amid worries about her autonomy. Since then, the former daytime television host’s family has claimed that Wendy has been a ghost as she grapples with primary progressive aphasia and other major health battles.
But now, Kevin wants Wendy to show up in court in person to have their divorce hearings finalized. New filings first reported on by the US Sun indicate his demand that Morrissey is not allowed to set up for Wendy in the New Jersey jurisdiction. And at least so far, a judge seems to have agreed with part of it!! Per that same outlet, the judge on the case has given Sabrina three weeks to prove that she has the authority to come to court on behalf of Wendy in the Garden State. Wow!

As you may recall, back in July, Kevin first filed a claim in the NJ-based court that questioned Morrissey’s right to rep the ex-daytime TV host. The 54-year-old estranged husband wrote in court docs at the time:
“Ms. Morrissey’s ‘pro se’ representation of Ms. Wendy Williams is akin to practicing law without a license as she is neither a barred attorney, nor a Guardian appointed by a New Jersey Court. It is conceivable that, based on the history of Ms. Morrissey as it relates to allegations of malfeasance regarding persons that she is the Guardian of in New York, that Ms. Wendy Williams may not need a guardian according to the laws of the State of New Jersey.”
Then, more recently, Kevin went on to demand that Wendy show up on her own in court to appear before the judge:
“The Defendant further asks that the Court order the Plaintiff Wendy Hunter to appear before the court herself. Ms. Morrissey is an attorney in New York, not New Jersey and though she claims to have been appointed as a Guardian in New York her Guardianship does not extend to this court as there is no Guardianship established in New Jersey. … Ms. Morrissey is not a party to the divorce and therefore should not be involved in this preceding.”
That all popped back up late last week, then, when the judge on the case wrote out an order responding to Kevin’s request with the demand that the court must “preclude the appearance of Ms. Sabrina E. Morrissey as guardian for Plaintiff [Wendy].”
Furthermore, the judge requested that as Wendy’s New York-based guardian, Morrissey must prove that she can serve in that same capacity in the state of New Jersey before being allowed to just show up in court on Wendy’s behalf:
“Ms. Morrissey shall comply with NJSA 3B: 12B-18, to the extent that she has not already done so, within 21 days hereof.”
Should that not happen, well, we may be seeing Wendy herself in court soon. Kevin has been fighting for a while over money that he says is still owed to him following their contentious marital settlement agreement. He wants his day in court now — and his ex-wife’s day, too!
Something tells us this one still has a LONG way to play out. Reactions, y’all?? Share ’em (below)…
