Wendy Williams Breaks Down On Air As She Updates Fans On Dating Life & Family Struggles

Wendy Williams on the red carpet

Monday morning marked Wendy Williams‘ big talk show return after a five-week vacation hiatus, and the first episode back was full of plenty of drama, most notably, major updates into the host’s personal life and romantic situation.
The 54-year-old broke down and cried during the Hot Topics segment of the show, choosing to make this one very personal, and diving into the situation around her dating life with a new — and unexpected — man.

Among the big reveals this morning, Wendy opened up that she’s “not in love,” but she IS a taken woman — and she’s dating a doctor!
The TV host shaded 27-year-old rumored boyfriend Marc Tomblin by low-key revealing that she wasn’t into younger men, but rather has been seeing a man much closer to her age who she refused to identify, saying to her audience (below):

“I’m not on the market anymore… I’m not in love, but there’s someone I’m crazy about! Listen, it’s not who you think, OK? Mother doesn’t deal with children. It just so happens, with my charm and whit, that I attract people of all ages. Twenty-seven-year-old boys, quite frankly, find me attractive. I get it, but when it comes time for the comfort of a man, I need sometime in their 50s too, and he’s got to work. And it helps that he’s a doctor. He’s been married. His kids are in their 20s, and yes he’s black. He’s brown-black. But I am not going to say one more word. You’re not going to blow this for me.”

Ha! OK, then — get it, girl!!!
Williams later confirmed that she and Tomblin are friends, and have only ever been friends, apparently, and her new mystery man is the only romantic source in her life right now. Later, she alluded to the fact that the mystery doc is apparently in pretty good physical shape, too, with big muscles! Fun!!!

The interesting part is the entire time Wendy was speaking about her new man, she was teary-eyed and on the verge of a full-blown cry. It could’ve been a lot of things, of course — the emotion of being back on set after such a long hiatus, the fear of revealing something personal about the person you’re into, or maybe even the sum-total of all the things she’s been through this year catching up to her as she resumes her TV career.
Whatever the case, it turned out to be a pretty emotional moment in the episode, and it caught quite a few audience members right in the feels. Williams received several chants of “Wendy!” throughout the episode from her supportive “co-hosts,” as she calls her live studio audience, and it was clear she really fed off their energy and support as she tried to make a seamless return to daytime TV talk.

But What About Her Family?!

Now, Wendy was significantly more tight-lipped about her family issues and ongoing divorce drama; several times throughout the segment, she vaguely mentioned that both she and her family were “doing fine,” but she never took time to really address anything specific.
She did speak a little bit about a trip she took during the hiatus to Idaho, to relax and “gather” herself, telling the audience (below):

“I was just a woman relaxing and gathering my thoughts. I had my books, my thoughts, but mostly gathering my life for me, my son and my family.”

That’s not a bad thing!
Surely there’s more to the story, but the daytime TV host kept her mouth shut on that — at least for now.
We’ll keep watching every morning now that she’s back on the air, as we’re sure you all will, too! Here’s to Miz Williams returning from her hiatus and jumping right back into work — we know there’s a LOT going on in her personal life, but it’s nice to have her back on our TV screens again, isn’t it?!
