Why Women Gain Weight When They Exercise

Alex Brenes pic
Chloe, a FitPerez reader and boxer, has been training hard for the last two months, but is confused why she is gaining weight. To get some answers she wrote boxer pro Alex Brenes for advice, asking:

Hey Alex,
I have been training for the last 2 months seriously so I can really slim down. I seem to train a lot but I’m gaining weight I have been watching what I eat but I dont seem to get any leaner. Any advice?

According to Alex:

Chloe,
From my experience, ladies gain a few pounds when they start working out and men lose weight which leads me to believe that women create muscle quicker than men. Women also sometimes retain fluids, but if you are training boxing the right way, you will start losing weight. Fighters have to be the lightest they can while keeping their strength, they can’t afford to have anything but strong muscles because they are matched based on their weight, the heavier they get, the harder the hits.
Just keep it up & YOU WILL SEE RESULTS & come by DeLaBBC, beginning November 1, 2011, Dawn North is joining the DeLaBBC Crew & she can go over things that can help women (and men) see results!!!
