A woman hurled racist comments at an Indian American family in a now-viral video on social media. That’s all too believable these days… but you won’t believe the excuses she has for her disgusting actions.
In an interview with KTLA 5 earlier this week, Pervez Taufiq — a well-known wedding photographer whose photos have been featured in Vogue — and his family landed at Los Angeles International Airport when a woman began going on a racist rant. He told the outlet she was on their flight and started asking his 11-year-old son if he was from India:
“She looked at our sons – that’s two younger ones which are four and eight – and basically started saying shut up to them, just shut up, and so, to say that really made me snap and I said you can’t talk to my sons that way.”
Oof, yeah. Don’t mess with other people’s kids, that’s one of those universal rules.

This situation escalated when they all got on a United Airlines shuttle bus. Pervez captured the horrible encounter on camera and posted the video on Instagram, and it’s since gone viral. While holding up both of her middle fingers, she is seen in the clip saying:
“Your family is from India. You have no respect. You have no rules. Do you think you can push everyone, push push. That’s what you think you are. You guys are f**king crazy.”
Pervez replied:
“Indian people are crazy? You told me to have some more curry.”
Taking out her phone, she then told him she was going “to record your f**king tandoori ass.” Watch the entire interaction (below):

The woman in the video has since been identified as 64-year-old Arlene Bunch, and instead of retreating as far out of the spotlight as possible, she’s actually decided to speak out about her awful behavior. However, she’s not apologizing for her racist remarks. Nope. She instead accused Pervez of starting the situation! She told to FOX 11:
“Pushed me to the side to get in front of me and the lady made him go back to the end of the line and he’s talking to his wife, ‘supposedly they are first class. Obviously, with no class and look at the way they’re dressed… they’re white trash.’ Aggressive when we loaded the shuttle. He looks over to me and says ‘Shut your big effing mouth you white trash bitch’ and then my husband steps in. None of this is in the video.”

But what about the racism? Even if he was rude first? Oh, she blamed those comments on a brain injury! What?!
Arlene claimed “most people know me as a very kind, calm person, but since the brain injury, I can get agitated very easily.” A friend explained to KTLA 5 that she suffered from multiple injuries, including brain trauma, after a natural gas explosion at a condo in 2023.
Um, let’s make this very clear: There is zero excuse for going on a racist rant like this one. Zero. She should be ashamed for what happened. Brain tumors are no excuse. Having a bad day is no excuse. Taking Ambien is not an excuse. These things may make you irritable or loose-lipped… but they won’t make you racist. That comes from a lifetime of embracing ignorance, and there is no excuse.
