New details are emerging about the scary night that Britney Spears took one of her children hostage!
According to new reports, it was the court-appointed monitor that called police when Unfitney began behaving erratically on Thursday.
"She had already put Preston in the car when Britney locked herself in a room with Jayden," a source tells People. "The cops came and got through the door and tied her down to a gurney."
LAPD called the incident an "ongoing investigation."
Sean Preston was taken to the hospital by Federline's assistant, and Jayden James was in the ambulance with the monitor, a source says, adding that the boys "won't be back with [Spears] for a long time."
By all accounts, Britney suffered a severe mental breakdown last night.
“They had to strap her down like a mental patient and she was going between laughing and hysterics,” a source tells Us Weekly, calling it “a total psychotic breakdown. She just went crazy."
Another Spears pal says: "I guess she has good days and bad days - it's mental instability. All she has is to think of something sad and she goes crazy.”
Britney's dad, Jamie, remains at the hospital.
It will be interesting to see if Lynne or Jamie Lynn fly out to LA to be with Britney.

When I was 13, my mother had a severe nervous breakdown after years of abuse as a child and at the hands of my father. It was a scary thing to see and heartbreaking to go through. She too had the hysterical laughing and everything. I have been watching her story unfold for some time and it all makes so much more sense now. I wish people would give her a break and let her work through this.
she's so dramatic….she should just kill herself already so we can be done with her….she's not talented, has nothing meaningful to add to the world and she clearly is a detriment to not only society, but more importantly, those two children of hers

I feel terrible for Kevin and especially her kids. As for Brit herself, a lot of this behavior could have been controlled with rehab, surrounding yourself around people who truly care and a couple of hobbies. I don't feel sorry for her one bit. She has done this to herself.
I think she's bipolar. Cause that's exactly what happens to my mom when she's not on medication, she just has to think of something "sad" and she'll go into a psychotic episode.

I feel bad for her.. I am with my kids 24/7 and if I only got to see them one time per week for a few hours.. I would go mad. They are my life.. I just wish that Kevin would reconsider since she is ill and maybe stand by her until she is strong again.. it's so terrible.

Maybe she'll get some mental help now - she's clearly unbalanced. She could be bi-polar - I had a friend who we had to have committed after he went off his medication, but it was very, very difficult to do this. He tended toward manic and didn't sleep, was constantly out doing things at all hours, wore bizarre clothing for the situation/weather, and just looked kind of crazed. He would get a bunch of credit cards and max them out. Ironically, he also liked to go stay at a hotel… His own mother couldn't get him committed - it took several friends, a trip to the hospital, sedation, the police and psychiatrists.
This is so sad. I hope she will get well….

The children are so screwed unless they get some stability stat. Away from paparazzi and all the attention. Britney should have had full custody taken away a long time ago. I don't feel sorry for her one bit. Her mental stability or instability will be diagnosed soon enough but her biggest issues have been lack of character, drug addiction and the illusion of importance caused by celebrity and wealth.
for the first time I feel sorry for her, i've thought for a long time she may be either suffering from post natal depression, 2 kids in two years, that's got too kick the sh** out of you or some kind of depressive disorder.

This seriously makes me so sad. People watch this like it's entertainment, but these are real people and there are children involved. I just wish she would get away for a long time and get help…for her AND her children's sake. I know she partially brings it on herself, but to not be able to walk into a store without 50 people and flashes going off in your face…that would seriously drive anyone insane.
I have mixed feelings about this. I feel bad for her, she clearly has serious mental health problems that are worsened by her fame. I frankly think that a perfectly healthy person would have emotional problems with the fame and constant scrutiny. BUT, these poor little boys! I have a daughter and I can't imagine the trauma for these kids. She had/has a responsibility to have sought the help she clearly needed before she deteriorated to the point that she clearly couldn't get the help on her own. I hope that the psychiatrists/psychogists and legal reps all do what is in the best interest of those boys.
