Thanks to inflamed vocal chords, Celine Dion has had to cancel four months worth of concerts and won't return to her Las Vegas stage until June 9th, but at least her recovery is going "according to plan."
And with a little luck, she might actually be ready to perform as soon as late April or May. Her husband Rene Angelil gave an update on the singer's health and she is "doing better," as he explained:
"Celine is doing better. She's obviously not singing, but her speaking voice is getting back to normal. We're flying to Los Angeles on Monday for a follow-up visit with Dr. Berke at the UCLA Medical Clinic. When Dr. Berke examined her two weeks ago, he said that he expects her to fully recover within 6-8 weeks which would mean between the middle and end of April. So far, everything is going according to plan."
Take all the time you need, gurl! We want those vocal chords to come back more powerful than ever!

Singer, diva…deli owner?! What CAN’T Celine Dion do? The entertainer recently teamed up with hubby Rene Angelil to buy a famous Montreal sandwich shop.
Schwartz’s, founded in 1928, has become a landmark for locals and tourists alike — not only for its amazing sandwiches, but for its timeless decor. Walking into the restaurant is like taking a step back in time and holds many memories for Celine and Rene.
Rene recalls:

First it was 4 shows, then 10 shows, and now we're hearing that Celine Dion is going to be canceling FOUR MONTHS of shows!
That sucks! But it needs to be done!
The singer, unfortunately, has severely inflamed vocal chords.
Again, here's what she said happened:
"I tried to sing at my sound-check last week, and I had no control of my voice whatsoever. We thought that after a few days rest I would improve but it wasn't getting any better. Obviously this is the worst thing for a singer -- not being able to do your shows. I feel worse knowing that I'm disappointing my fans. I'm so sorry. I hope they forgive me."
That's such a bummer -- but for those of you who were planning on seeing her soon, she will be refunding shows. Small conciliation, but it will have to do.
She'll be back June 9th... and we'll be waiting!!
Feel better, Celine!!

We have more bad news for Celine Dion fans who were planning to see the singer belt out her hits at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
Thanks to that nasty inflammation of her vocal chords, she has been forced to cancel 10 more shows. Such a bummer!
The good news is that she has seen a specialist and is under proper care, as she explained to sources:
"I tried to sing at my soundcheck last week, and I had no control of my voice whatsoever. We thought that after a few days' rest I would improve, but it wasn't getting any better... I guess it was worse than I thought. I'm fortunate that I was able to see Professor Berke. He identified what was causing the problems I was having, and he assured me that with the amount of rest he prescribed, I would be back to 100%."
Celine won't be able to hit the stage again until June, but tickets WILL be refunded! However, she still feels pretty bad about not being able to perform for her fans, continuing:
"Obviously this is the worst thing for a singer... not being able to do your shows. I feel worse knowing that I'm disappointing my fans. I'm so sorry... I hope they forgive me."
Aww! They totally will, gurl. Their hearts will go on! Ha!
