Rooney Mara Shares Her Surprising Experiences With Gender Pay Gap & Reveals Why We're Having The 'Wrong' Conversation!

We're so glad Rooney Mara is joining the gender pay gap movement!

In a recent interview with Deadline, Rooney opened up about her experiences with salary issues in comparison to her male counterparts. The beauty also took a minute to reflect on the important conversation about women's equality in Hollywood first sparked by Jennifer Lawrence's poignant essay in Lenny Letter.

Luckily for Mara, she has had only one instance of unexplained gender pay gap thanks to her preference for independent films where everyone is typically paid "equal". The actress also revealed there have been times where she has been paid more than men.

Obviously, the pay scale was NOT equal when Mara appeared in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo alongside Daniel Craig considering she was relatively unknown at the time:

"When I did Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, did Daniel Craig get paid more than me? Of course. He got paid a ton more than me, but he's Daniel Craig and no one knew who I was so I don't deserve to be getting paid what he's getting. He's the one putting asses in the seats, not me. I had never done anything, so that's just sort of the way that went."

Well, we guess that makes sense. As long as R.M. was comfortable with it that's all that matters!

Despite the Carol star's good fortune, she admits there's still something to be done about gender inequality. Not only does Rooney believe there's still progress to be made, she also thinks there needs to be a more analytic and thoughtful approach to the issue entirely:

BAFTA Awards 2016: Rooney Mara walks the red carpet.

Angelic!

Rooney Mara made sure "ethereal" would be used to describe her as she arrived at the BAFTA Awards in London on Sunday.

The Carol actress glided onto the red carpet in an off-white and silvery Givenchy gown featuring shoulder cut-outs and perforated hexagonal shapes throughout.

Her shoulders looked feathered, but it was actually just the fabric cut into triangles to give the dress some flair.

Do you like this or does it seem like somebody went at it with a hole-puncher???

The three looked beautiful at the event in Beverly Hills Monday, and GaGa even threw on a custom Christian Siriano cream-toned gown for the occasion.

Brie and Rooney kept it less formal, but still looked fetching in an Emilia Wickstead embellished skirt (with Swarovski crystal embellishment) and pink top with Dana Rebecca Designs rings, and a floral embroidered Giambattista Valli dress, respectively.

So much romance!

Do these neutral tones get your heart fluttering???

Sisters support each other!

Rooney Mara is at the SAG Awards tonight after getting nominated for her supporting role in Carol, and you can bet her sis Kate Mara wouldn't miss it for the world!

Despite being sisters — and despite both wearing Valentino gowns — the two managed to differentiate themselves on the red carpet tonight, with Kate showing off her curves and Rooney choosing to cover up a bit more conservatively!

Both looks are certainly a little non-traditional for a major award show carpet, but there's something about Kate's choice specifically that is memorable and unique!

What do U think of the sisters' SAG Award looks??
