Doctor Strange totally just put a spell on us!
We can't wait to see Benedict Cumberbatch take on the title role in Marvel's new superhero film, especially after seeing him as the character on EW's new cover!
Filming only began in November for the upcoming superhero flick, but Entertainment Weekly offered a magical early peek at the titular comic book hero — so early, it was one of the first times Cumberbatch tried on his costume!
The Sherlock star is still in the process of immersing himself into the character of Doctor Stephen Strange — a self-centered surgeon who transforms into a watchful sorcerer!
The actor explained how he's still figuring out the appropriate ways to gesture when conducting spells, as he is meticulously rehearsing different movements. He said:
The highly anticipated trailer for Zoolander 2 got fans excited for the sequel when it dropped last month, but it also managed to spark major backlash for its portrayal of a "non-binary" character!
Justin Theroux, who co-penned the script for the comedy, has responded to the criticism, promising that the scene was meant as satire and was taken out of context!
Speaking to The Wrap, Jennifer Aniston's husband said:
"I don't even know what to make of it, because it hurts my feelings in a way. I take great care in the jokes I write, and the umbrage being taken is out of the context of the scene. I wish people would see the movie first. Satire is a thing that points out the idiots, and we went through it on Tropic Thunder with the ‘R' word."
Back in 2008, The Leftovers actor got heat from disabled groups who blasted Robert Downey Jr.'s repeated use of the word "retard" in Tropic Thunder!
But according to Theroux, that was used as a comedic device to comment on the ugliness of people who use that word! He added:
In a new letter penned to Father Christmas as part of the Letters Live series, the 39-year-old Sherlock star jokingly reminisced about asking for a lightsaber, only to never receive it!
Clearly he holds a grudge! LOLz!
But that was the lightest note of the entire letter, as Ben heart-wrenchingly poured out:
"You are for the children. Children who need some magic in a world where [sp] the borders between innocence and responsibility, playful imagination and cold, adult obstacles are continually shrinking."
And he continued to ask for:

LGBT activists are pushing back against Zoolander 2 for what they are calling controversial and cartoonish representations of transgender people in the film, most notably the character played by Benedict Cumberbatch.
And now, activists have begun an online petition — which now has more than 7,000 signatures — to boycott the film over the controversy!
